Which Videojet TIJ Printer Do You Have?

Videojet’s thermal inkjet line comes from Wolke, the German TIJ manufacturer Videojet acquired in 2005 (Videojet is part of Veralto, formerly Danaher). Videojet sells the same printers under its own model numbers, and the generation you own determines how a Kao Collins cartridge behaves in it.

Videojet 8510 and the Wolke m600 family (m600 advanced, m600 oem, m600 universal, m600 touch, m600e, m600T, T800, T800e) — Standard HP45 cartridges with no cartridge authentication. Kao Collins cartridges are a true drop-in with no printer configuration changes. See our Wolke Compatible Ink page.
Videojet 8520 and the Wolke m610 family (m610 advanced, m610 oem, m610 touch) — Same HP45 cartridge body, but the controller reads a chip on Videojet-branded cartridges. A Kao Collins cartridge prints normally; the controller shows a Non-Authenticated Cartridge warning (E5344) that the operator clears, ink level and expiry tracking are not available, and firing voltage and pulse width are entered under Tools > Setup > Consumables after each power cycle. We supply the Kao Collins settings with every order and recommend testing one cartridge on your firmware before ordering in volume.
Videojet 8610 — A MEK-cartridge platform, not HP45 format. Contact us before ordering.

Not sure which you have? An 8520 or m610 displays the ink level it reads from the cartridge. An 8510 or m600 asks the operator to enter the ink level by hand.

Solvent Ink for Films, Foils and Metallized Packaging

Kao Collins Sigma+ (TSK3646) is our lead recommendation for date and lot codes on non-porous flexible packaging. Kao Collins describes Sigma+ as its next-generation HP 45si solvent black, formulated for the highest level of durability and adhesion with extremely fast drying, and rates its decap at over 16 hours. The Sigma family is listed by Kao Collins for nylon BOPP, PE, PET, PP, foils, aluminum and laminated papers, and complies with the EuPIA guideline for printing inks on non-contact surfaces of consumer packaging, REACH SVHC, Non-CMR and PFAS-free. Sigma+ is a special-order item — email us for pricing and lead time.

Kao Collins Sigma (TSK3182) trades some dry speed for the longest decap in the family, over 64 hours per Kao Collins, with a 24-month shelf life. Choose it for lines that idle between prints or sit over weekends. Kao Collins Stratus (TSK281503) is the fast-dry solvent for plastic wrap, PVC, Tyvek, foils, UV coats, varnish and some metals. All three are solvent inks and ship as drop-ship items by UPS ground only.
